Second Sunday

Today was a cold and cloudy day.  I thought it felt good.  I wore jeans, tshirt, sweater, socks and shoes and it is June 24.  Sounds funny doesn't it!  It rained on and off but after 10 this morning, mostly off.  I went to the Y today for a swim, had lunch and went to a movie with one of my quilt guilds daughter's who lives up here in Anchorage.  She must be in her early 40's, I was afraid to ask.  She looked good!

At the movie theater, I looked out over to the mountains and noticed how the clouds covered most of the mountains but a small piece in the distance.  You have to follow the middle telephone pole to the way back in the pics, to see the mountain piece that was showing.  I am not sure if the picture captured the beauty of it all.





I didn't do much else today but grade.  I took my host's dog for a walk (shhhhh, don't tell Chuck)  and took some pictures of the neighborhood.  One of the things I love is that the lilacs are just coming in bloom and are so fragrant.  Today, I saw pick lilacs.  They were beautiful.

Hurry Up and Wait

Here I sit at the airport with not much to do but wait. Security at the airport tends to be somewhat silly. If you are drinking something you can not bring it down to the gate, so hurry up and drink it or throw it out. Then you have to get on a big long line, and wait so you can take things out of your backpack, purse or whatever else you are carrying on the plane. Oh, and you have to take your shoes off and hope that the people in front of you's feet don't smell too bad. Of course, I wore tie shoes which is a pain in the ass to put back on. So here I sit at the gate, waiting to board in a few hours. I am not sure why they say to get to the airport so early but here I am waiting. I fly into Minneapolis and have a four hour lay over. I was looking around to see if I could leave the airport for a few hours to see the city. I think by now, I have poo pooed that idea, knowing my sense of direction sucks. Nothing Ventured, nothing gained

Thursday May 27 4:35pm. As you will notice, I am in a totally different time zone. You guys are like back to the future for me. I am doing things when you haven't even gotten to the time and day yet. Today's venture: As you know I am pretty jet lagged. I am feeling it real bad right now. My back is killing me from who knows what, but I feel my back and my leg pain that I did NOT want in Japan. So I took a few IB profun and will go to sleep at 9pm and tomorrow, it will be better. (I hope). I waited and walked to work with Monica, she works at that craft store with bunches and bunches and bunches of fabric. I spent about an hour wandering around the store and bought nothing.
