It's been almost two years since I went to Japan. There are a few perks to teaching: one is summer's off. I love to travel and visit new cultures but the drawback to teaching is our salaries are low. With that said, I have to find a creative way to travel. This school year has been difficult with my hip issues and enrollment being low at the community college where I teach. I found myself somewhat frustrated with both and personally when that happens, I need an adventure. This summer I am going to have an adventure.....I am nervous and excited! Packing will be difficult because I will need both winter clothes and summer clothes. I was told to bring it all and especially to bring a hat and gloves because I would need them if I went out on a boat. It's going to be an exciting summer!

    I think you should pack yourself and Chuck in your car, give yourself some extra time, drive there and call this blog Travels with Chuck. It will become a best seller, they will make a movie after it, and you will be set for retirement and be able to support all of your friends!

Hurry Up and Wait

Here I sit at the airport with not much to do but wait. Security at the airport tends to be somewhat silly. If you are drinking something you can not bring it down to the gate, so hurry up and drink it or throw it out. Then you have to get on a big long line, and wait so you can take things out of your backpack, purse or whatever else you are carrying on the plane. Oh, and you have to take your shoes off and hope that the people in front of you's feet don't smell too bad. Of course, I wore tie shoes which is a pain in the ass to put back on. So here I sit at the gate, waiting to board in a few hours. I am not sure why they say to get to the airport so early but here I am waiting. I fly into Minneapolis and have a four hour lay over. I was looking around to see if I could leave the airport for a few hours to see the city. I think by now, I have poo pooed that idea, knowing my sense of direction sucks. Nothing Ventured, nothing gained

Thursday May 27 4:35pm. As you will notice, I am in a totally different time zone. You guys are like back to the future for me. I am doing things when you haven't even gotten to the time and day yet. Today's venture: As you know I am pretty jet lagged. I am feeling it real bad right now. My back is killing me from who knows what, but I feel my back and my leg pain that I did NOT want in Japan. So I took a few IB profun and will go to sleep at 9pm and tomorrow, it will be better. (I hope). I waited and walked to work with Monica, she works at that craft store with bunches and bunches and bunches of fabric. I spent about an hour wandering around the store and bought nothing.
